Dr. Jerrod Pickering is the author of two books on cybersecurity culture and human risk — one of the few practitioners who has written both the diagnosis and the cure.
His first book, The People Problem: Strengthening Cybersecurity Through Proper Training (2023), makes the case that most security failures aren't technology failures — they're training failures. It challenges organizations to stop treating security awareness as a compliance checkbox and start treating it as a behavior change problem.
His follow-up, The People Solution: From Weakest Link to Strongest Defense (2025), delivers the blueprint. Drawing on 15+ years of experience as an instructional designer, IT auditor, and cybersecurity educator, Pickering gives HR leaders, security awareness managers, and L&D professionals a practical framework for building programs that actually move the needle.
